QCBI & ABC

DCYA is now actively working on identifying and mainstream the learning from the range of activities and approaches carried out through the ABC programmes to ensure a more systematic change to improving services and outcomes for children. This is being done through the development of a Quality and Capacity Building Initiative (QCBI). This initiative aims to take a coordinated approach to enhance capabilities and quality in prevention and earlier intervention across the policy and practice domains working with and for children, young people and families based on the 5 National Outcomes in Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures. This will be done through harnessing the research and learning from a range of initiatives, including the ABC programme. Four key components have been identified to ensure prevention and early intervention is a key focus from policy through to provision and practice: aligning data; harnessing evidence; enhancing implementation through coaching and development; embedding prevention and early intervention approaches through a quality framework.

The QCBI will ensure that key groups working with children, young people and families know what works, how it works and will provide an evidence supported approach to apply to this work.
